Located just 10 kilometers (6 miles) outside of Paris, the small palace of Malmaison was the residence of Napoleon Ist and his first wife, Josephine, during more than 10 years.
Josephine bought this private mansion in 1799, when Napoleon was in Egypt, and she had the best architects and artists working on it to furnish it with refinement.
This home used to be where they held receptions, concerts, but also political meetings when Napoleon was the First consul and Emperor.
Today, visiting the Chateau de la Malmaison is the best way to learn more about Josephine, her children (from a previous marriage), and Napoleon's best moments.

Tips for your visit
The castle of Malmaison is closed on Tuesdays.
The Castle of Malmaison is easy to reach from Paris: you can take a bus from La Defense, or take the RER to Rueil-Malmaison, and then a bus. I can also organize a private driver to drive you directly from Paris.
Château de Malmaison tickets

- Free for all kids under 18 years old

There is no elevator to access the 1st floor. The 1st floor can be reached using a staircase with a ramp to go up and down.
