The district of the "Marais" is full of history: you will go from street art and design, to beautiful private mansions, and even to the Jewish area around the Rue des Rosiers.

Originally, "marais" means this place was a marshland, and it became much better when religious communities settled down, followed by the nobility in the 17th century, who built some nice private mansions like the Hôtel de Sully or Hôtel Carnavalet. Around the Place des Vosges, you will discover some art galleries and nice shops and gardens.

Follow me to discover this multi-faceted district and its secrets.

Why do I love leading this tour in the "Marais" area?

"My favorite part of this tour in Le Marais is the Hôtel de Sully: from a bustling street, you get into a hidden and very quiet garden. And I also like the secret passage to get to the famous Place des Vosges: follow me to find out more!"
